Marble is a type of sedimentary limestone which is composed of calcite, calcium carbonate, dolomite and crystal. Marble stones are divided into different categories, and they are different from onyx stones. As the marble stones are denser, their durability and quality are higher. Marble stones have a lot of streaks on their surface due to the minerals in their structures. Also, they have less porosity and higher strength than travertine stones. Marble stones usually have no porose behind them and they have a smooth surface with streaks, and they are one of the most popular stones among builders and designers. This building stone is found in nature in different colors due to the different minerals in its structure, colors such as: gray, black, white, lemon and red. Marble is one of the most luxurious building stones which is usually used for decoration and design of the buildings.

Applications of marble stones in the buildings

Marble is mostly used for the interior spaces, such as staircases, floors, wall coverings, kitchen counters, bathrooms, and other decorations. Furthermore, marble stones can be coordinated easily with the interior decorations because of their high variety of colors. For example, if the dark colors of marble stones such as pietra grey, black marquina and golden black marble are used for the flooring of the lobbies and hotels, the final result will be stunningly beautiful. Marble can be used for the exteriors if its thickness is 2 to 2.5 cm.
